Let's start by recalling the main features that make the original 2021 CX-9 so charming and appealing. Using the Kodo approach – meaning "soul in motion" – the body of this SUV displays fluid lines and plays with contrasts between light and dark. In line with all previous Mazda CX-9 editions, the one behind the 2021.5 CX-9 features a 2.5L 4-cylinder Skyactiv-G engine. Equipped with a turbocharger with dynamic pressure, it generates an output of 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque. It is complemented by standard i-Activ all-wheel drive.

Changes in the new 2021.5 CX-9 module

With Mazda's mid-year update, the major changes are in the interior! In fact, the new CX-9 2021.5 sees its infotainment screen expand from 8 to 10.25 inches. This screen comes with the latest version of the Mazda Connect multimedia interface, which includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Also, Mazda Connected Services are available and will start operating in the fall of 2021. These will allow, for example, remote engine start and stop via the MyMazda app.

The transition from the 2021 CX-9 to the 2021.5 CX-9 is promising for what is to come with the 2022 Mazda CX-9! In addition to retaining the latest technological innovations of this edition of the CX-9, the future 2022 Mazda CX-9 will see its engine power increased tenfold and turbocharged. In fact, its powertrain will be upgraded from a 4-cylinder Skyactiv-G engine to a 6-cylinder Skyactiv-G engine!
