All about grants for electric vehicles

Have you finally decided to purchase a new hybrid or electric vehicle?  But you still have no idea what kind of grants will be offered to you?  Here is a guide that will help you understand it all.  In fact, whether you opt for a hybrid, a plug-in hybrid or an electric vehicle, grants remain the same. 

Assistance and grants for a greener future 

Consumers will have until June 30th 2022 to obtain the provincial government grant of $ 8,000 for the purchase of an electric car.  Beginning July 1st 2022, this provincial grant drops to $ 7,000.  When it comes to federal incentives, whether it is for the purchase of an electric car or a plug-in hybrid, the amount can reach up to $ 5,000; no changes to this amount are planned in a near futures. 

Conditions and eligibility

Here is what you have to keep in mind when considering whether or not you are eligible:

• Retail price for the selected vehicle has to be under $ 60,000;
• It must have been purchased in Canada, but registered in Quebec;
• It must have been purchased or leased over a period of minimum 12 months;
• It must be registered under your name. 

A greener future thanks to electricity?

Thanks to a wide Electric Circuit that is more and more performant, as well as plug-in and charging infrastructures (the Electric Circuit contains over 3,400 charging stations in the province of Quebec, 600 of which are quick charge stations) eMobility has now become a reality.

Two charging stations are available: 240V stations and quick charging stations, which offer a much shorter charging time.  With this type of charging station however, it is recommended to unplug your vehicle the minute charge levels reach 80%, so as to avoid to overload your battery which, in the long term, could damage it.
